About the Publisher

Modrijan's literary programme encompasses a wide range of books from popular science and technical literature to Slovene and foreign belles-lettres. In 2008, the publishing house created the Euroman collection – 27 works of prose, one from each of the EU member states, came out on the same day. Modrijan's regular collections include Poteze (Traits – biographies and biographic novels, autobiographies, memoirs et sim.), Bralec (Reader – novels and short stories written by contemporary Slovene and foreign authors), Nostalgija (Nostalgy – translations of older »canonized« literary works) and Svila (Silk – shorter literary texts written by eminent authors whose works have already been published in Slovene). Among prominent authors published by Modrijan are Drago Jančar, Andrej E. Skubic, Katarina Marinčič, Božo Repe, Peter Vodopivec, Joyce Carol Oates, Angela Carter, Svetlana Alexievich, Annie Proulx, Philip Roth, Salman Rushdie, Milan Kundera, John McGahern, Richard Dawkins, Noam Chomsky, Umberto Eco, Umberto Galimberti ... Each year, up to 40 new book titles are published.
